Day 1

Designing governed ESG data and evidence systems

Module 1 — Metric catalogue and data architecture

  • Metric definitions, units, boundaries and methodologies
  • Reporting periods, dimensions, baselines and targets
  • Data dictionary, source-system mapping and change control

Practical application: Design a controlled metric definition for a material KPI.

Module 2 — ESG data operating model

  • Board, management, owner, preparer, reviewer and approver roles
  • Branch, department and Head Office reporting flows
  • Segregation of duties, deadlines, escalation and certification

Practical application: Build a role-based ESG data RACI and reporting calendar.

Module 3 — Evidence management and audit trail

  • Source records, evidence sufficiency and privacy
  • File naming, hashing, retention, retrieval and versioning
  • Linking evidence to metrics, submissions and disclosures

Practical application: Assemble and evaluate an assurance-ready evidence pack.

Validation, controls, consolidation and assurance readiness

Module 4 — Data capture and automated validation

  • Forms, spreadsheets, system interfaces and controlled imports
  • Required-field, unit, period, duplicate and reasonableness rules
  • Exceptions, corrections, approvals and immutable history

Practical application: Configure validation rules and resolve a sample exception queue.

Module 5 — Consolidation, lineage and performance intelligence

  • Organisational roll-up, eliminations and aggregation
  • Restatements, late submissions and period locking
  • Dashboards, variance analysis and data-quality indicators

Practical application: Reconcile branch data to an enterprise dashboard.

Module 6 — Internal controls over sustainability reporting

  • Risk and control matrices for material disclosures
  • Control design, operating effectiveness and deficiency grading
  • Management certification, internal audit and external assurance readiness

Practical application: Document and test an end-to-end sustainability reporting control.
